L’UOMO È FINITO - L’ORIZZONTE È INFINITO
2022
Marble, tulle, 370 x 370 x 83 cm
L'UOMO È FINITO - L'ORIZZONTE È INFINITO is a square.
Man erected himself, placed himself at the center, made himself a monument. The obelisk lives in its individuality. The obelisk was reduced to a precise size: from the ground it reaches the height of my genitals.
The tulle skirt, light but layered, much wider than the central monument, composed of concentric flounces, does not go around the obelisk to enhance it, but wants to create a comparison on the horizon. The skirt distances the viewer by creating a forced distance that puts the man back into perspective. It's about perspective and space. Women deserve and need space. More space than they are allowed to occupy today.
The horizon of women is broad, it extends, spreads and is strengthened in the collective, in sisterhood, in union.
Women know how to be a united front. They know how to put things into perspective. They have a measure of the world.
The disparity in the proportions of everything must cease to exist. Current power relations must change. The limits placed by the masculine must be removed. We no longer want to see the limits. We want squares of women. Tides of women. The infinite horizon.
